Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Climbio ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects your personal information when you visit climbio.co.uk or get in touch with us. We're committed to handling your data responsibly and in line with UK data protection law — the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

For the purposes of data protection law, the data controller is Climbio. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at james@climbio.co.uk.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us. When you submit our free-audit form or general enquiry form, we collect the details you choose to provide — typically your name, email address, website URL and any message you send us.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically logs limited technical data (such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request) to keep the site secure, performant and running properly. We also use Vercel Web Analytics — a privacy-friendly, cookieless tool — to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data (such as page views, approximate location and device type). None of this is used to personally identify you.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • respond to your enquiry and provide the free audit or information you've requested;
  • deliver and manage any services you engage us for;
  • communicate with you about your project or enquiry;
  • keep our website secure and working properly;
  • comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.

We will never sell your personal data, and we don't use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

3. Our legal basis for processing

Under UK GDPR, we process your data on the following bases:

  • Legitimate interests / consent — to respond to enquiries you send us and provide the information or audit you've asked for;
  • Contract — where we're providing services to you or taking steps at your request before entering a contract;
  • Legal obligation — where we're required to keep records, for example for tax or accounting.

4. Who we share your information with

We only share your data with trusted service providers who help us run our business, and only as far as necessary. These act as our processors under contract:

  • Formspree — processes our website form submissions and delivers them to us (privacy policy);
  • Vercel — hosts our website and processes limited server logs (privacy policy).

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK (for example in the United States). Where they do, appropriate safeguards — such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision — are in place to protect your data.

5. How long we keep your data

We keep your personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes set out above — typically for the duration of our correspondence or working relationship, and a reasonable period afterwards — unless we're required to keep it longer by law. You can ask us to delete it at any time (see your rights below).

6. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • ask us to delete your data (the "right to erasure");
  • restrict or object to our processing of your data;
  • request a copy of your data in a portable format;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at james@climbio.co.uk and we'll respond within one month.

7. Cookies

Our website uses very few cookies and no advertising or tracking cookies. For full details, see our Cookie Policy.

8. Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your personal data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
